bilbo, the ring is still in your pocket.

human relationships are complex. it seems to me that i handled them better when i was younger. it's also possible that i'm becoming old and cantankerous, but the reality is probably that a career, bills, a terminally-ill family member, buying my first home, and juggling a new girlfriend are all variables i don't have much experience dealing with at the same time. add to that the knowledge that i'm going on three years living in a new state and it starts to come into perspective.

reminds me of that line in edwin mccain's song, "i'll be better when i'm older."

waiting all day

We failed back to our main production F5 this evening. Freeing us to perform code upgrade on the secondary from 9.1.2 to 9.4.7 on the 23rd. Checkouts completed with no errors.

I finished the build of VCS02 and clustered VH1 and VH2 with HA and DRS. Now all I need to do is convert our MSVS systems and bring them over.

But I'll do that another time. I've not tasted a Hacker-Pschorr in quite awhile and I've a six pack of them in the fridge.

tech and speeding tickets

spent the morning installing server 2k8 for our upgrade to Faxcore and reading up on Vsphere 4. Server 2k8 has the firewall turned on by default (good) and blocks icmp (annoying) via the file and printer sharing option in control panel.

shortly before 1pm I headed out to meet with a representative from Farmers Insurance about the house. The lady was no call/no show (annoying) and so i made the drive up to Thornton to request an extension for my speeding ticket. why can't i just do that over the phone?

anyways, now i'm back at work. i'm gonna kick off SQL 2005 install on the new fax box and then head home to continue working there.

home tonight. spent the afternoon periodically watching the broncos piss their season away while reading cisco coursework material.

work tomorrow. i'm ready. excited.

it was good to go back to ann arbor and see family and friends. i miss elements of interaction with old pals. i must remember to keep sharp.

and because i'll forget, Blueprint by Attica Blues is a great tune.
